Acne? This is your new secret weapon

@haileybieber

As anyone with acne will tell you, there’s no quick fix - but this magic tool is the best thing we’ve ever added to our arsenal…

When it comes to sore, blotchy, red, inflamed, and dare we say it – pussy – skin, there isn’t anything we won’t try. As anyone who’s ever had a pimple knows, sometimes they just take over your face and your personality and make it impossible to function. So, when we found High-Frequency, AND, found out that we could buy one to use at home whenever we’re in distress, we added to Jeff Bezos’ fortune faster than you can say facial.

So, what is it? We’re not going to sugar coat it, High-Frequency machines sort of (definitely) look very much like sex toys, they sound scary when you turn them on, and if you over-use them or use them incorrectly, they can dry the shit out of your skin and make you feel worse (it’s a very flaky situation). But the good news is that when used minimally and over consecutive days, they will literally stop a pimp-daddy in it’s tracks and calm the shit out of your face. Thank god.

Anyway, when you buy one, it will come with a few interchangeable glass heads including: the tongue-shaped head for treating white heads and blind pimples, the mushroom-shaped heads for treating broader areas like the cheeks and larger areas of inflammation including recurrent cystic acne, the bent tube with a small ball-shape on the end to get around folds like the nose and around the mouth for blackheads, and the comb tube for your hair to encourage hair growth and smoothness. We love all the heads, but our most used is the mushroom as it makes it easy to just go over the whole face and treat everything at once.

In order to avoid over-drying or treating, before treating we recommend covering your face with some gauze (these pre-cut cloths make it easy) and then, starting with the High-Frequency tool on a low setting, apply to skin over the gauze and move over any areas you want to treat in a circular motion. Go over each area a couple of times and then you’re done! If you want to go deeper, you can turn the tool up a notch (or a few), we just recommend testing how your skin reacts before going too strong to avoid over-drying. You should feel the effects immediately, and see the effects over the next 12 - 24 hours.

Afterwards, we recommend slathering on a hydrating serum like this one from Medik8, the B-Hydra from Drunk Elephant, or the Hyaluronic from Dr. Barbara Sturm, as well as a moisturiser ( this one from Perricone MD is a crowd-pleaser).

So why the gauze? It creates a separation between the tool and the skin which promotes oxygen flow and allows the tool to penetrate the skin better, which has an antibacterial effect on spots.
