Our favourite lines from Midnights…
Taylor Swift is many things, but a lacklustre songwriter is not one of them. Of course, we need to preface this with the fact that we are lifers when it comes to loving her (and yes, we heard about the jet and we know it’s bad), but when it comes to the lyrics in her new album Midnights, there are a few poignant lines we just can’t get out of our heads. Part projection, part revelation, here are the lines we feel just speak for us.
“I’ll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror”
“Didn’t notice you walking all over my peace of mind in the shoes I gave you as a present. Putting someone first only works when you’re in their top 5”
“You painted all my nights a color I’ve searched for since”
“If I was some paint, did it splatter on a promising grown man and if I was a child, did it matter if you got to wash your hands”
“No one wanted to play with me as a little kid so I’ve been scheming like a criminal ever since to make them love me and make it seem effortless”
